On April 10th, 2024, lots of adults came in to describe their interesting careers to our 8th graders. There were lots of careers to choose from. Hopefully most of the 8th graders there felt connected to at least one job portrayed by the adult.
The first interviewed adult was a vet. Our first question for him was what his motivation was for becoming a vet and what he enjoyed the most about his career. He responded saying he enjoyed helping animals. As well as that he’s helping people by helping their beloved pets. He said that he’s “strengthening the animal owner bond”.
The next adult we interviewed chose to be an ER Nurse as her career. We asked her if she chose the job because she was interested in the medical field, taking care of others, or for some other reason. She said she chose being an ER Nurse because she likes working with people and the community. And that she was making a difference in the community. She even told us that she doesn’t just have to be a nurse. She can do a lot of things in the medical field. Like being an anesthesiologist.
The last adult that was interviewed was a medical assistant. We asked her two questions, what she enjoyed the most about her career and what age group she preferred working with. She responded saying that she loved saving and helping people. As well as preferring to work with children. Since they’re “more fun to work with”.
