A Guide To D&D: Part One
December 23, 2020
Over the course of multiple articles, you will learn what D&D is and how to get started. You may not know what D&D is. D&D or Dungeons and Dragons is a table-top, fantasy, role-playing game. According to Wikipedia, it was created in 1974 by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, published by Tactical Studies Rules, Inc. Dungeons and Dragons went through many different types of editions. The current edition is the Fifth Edition which was released in 2014. This game is widely popular with a very unique gaming style. The first thing you will need is the Fifth Edition Player’s Handbook. This is not necessary, but it does help with playing.
In the book, there are instructions to help you create a character, play the game, and understand the rules of magic. On Amazon the book retails for $22.96 plus tax. Next, I would get the Fifth Edition Starter Set. Just like the Handbook, this is all optional, but the starter set does help when you are first starting out. This price is about $11.22 on Amazon. As you can see this hobby isn’t all too expensive to get into like some other table-top games. I would also get the Monster Manual and the Dungeon Master’s Guide too. The Monster Manual retails at 27.49 and the Dungeons Master’s Guide retails for $25.00 on Amazon. I would also get a set of D&D dice. The dice is also fairly cheap, unless you want to spend a little extra on unique handmade dice sets on Ebay or Etsy. If you just want plain cheaper dice, the price will range from six to fifteen dollars. I will be adding a link for some of the plainest, cheapest dice you can find. The Amazon links to all of the stuff will be at the bottom.
As you can see Dungeons and Dragons is not an expensive hobby to start. The Amazon links will be below.
